Some like it dark. Others like it fruity. How do you prefer your coffee?
Our new Prince & Spring Organic Coffee is so special, we asked coffee sommelier Emily to share her tasting notes on our Breakfast Blend, Colombian, and French Roast varieties. Turns out, coffee is just like wine, with complex flavors and aromas like dark chocolate and ripe, summer fruits. Looking out for what to savor helps you enjoy your cup of joe even more.
Breakfast Blend: Nutty and citrus-filled. Think hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, and citrus flavors like Meyer lemon and mandarin orange. We call it Breakfast Blend because the juicy nature of the coffee replicates the reaction in your mouth to orange juice!
Colombian: Dark chocolate and red berries. You’ll taste dark chocolate bars, fresh black cherries, ripe raspberries, and a little bit of blood orange on the acidity.
French Roast: Dark, bold and smokey. Think of a campfire with hot coals and wisps of smoke. Taking a sip is like sitting out on a fall night wrapped in a blanket, coffee in hand.
Buzzing to know more? Here are some fun coffee facts:
- When in Rome (or anywhere in Italy), cappuccino is strictly a morning drink, best enjoyed with a buttery cornetto pastry. Stick to espresso after 11 AM to avoid Italian side eye.
- Aussie flat whites are taking over the U.S. — and for good reason. It’s a shorter coffee with less frothy milk than a latte, so ideal for a mid-morning pick-me-up.
- Iced coffee is not the only way to cool off with coffee in summer: Affogato is Italy’s gift to summer desserts when you don’t want anything heavy or rich. Simply brew an espresso (follow our coffee cheat sheet here), then scoop vanilla ice cream into an espresso glass or small bowl and pour the hot espresso over the ice cream. Coffee and ice cream = heavenly!
