The best day of the year is here: Chocolate Day, a day when people across the land can come together and appreciate the beauty of that incredible substance, chocolate.
Chocolate, how much do we love thee? Let us count the ways. Here are three gooey, decadent, oh-so-rich chocolate recipes to satisfy even the most discerning sweet tooth.
Chocolate Bar Cake

This cake really sets the bar high (sorry, we couldn’t resist). If you ever feel torn between cake and candy, this cake has you covered… because it’s literally covered in candy bars. It’s your classic chocolate cake base with flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and vegetable oil, plus a bit of instant coffee. For the frosting, you can opt for homemade or a shortcut, but the real fun comes when you decide what candy to crown it with. We opted for Hershey’s chocolate.
Frozen Hot Chocolate

That’s right. Frozen. Hot. Chocolate. Intrigued? This cult recipe got its start at NYC’s Serendipity 3 cafe but you can skip the lines and the hefty price tag and make your own, blending Stonewall Kitchen Hot Chocolate powder, Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup, milk and ice cubes, and top with whipped cream and torched mini marshmallows.
Brownie Brittle Pizza

Eat dessert for dinner with this Brownie Brittle pie. Just put Brownie Brittle in a food processor and pulse until crumbly. Add butter, sugar, and flour, then bake in a pie dish for 15 minutes at 450 F. Just be sure to let it cool before making it cool with the toppings of your choice. We’re partial to M&Ms, but hey, it’s your brownie pizza. You do you.
Happy Chocolate Day from all of us at Boxed!
